What are our Gas Scrubbers and how do they work?
Gas scrubbers, also known as scrubbers, are wet scrubbers designed to remove contaminants from air streams by absorbing them into a liquid, usually water with specific additives. The process is based on the transfer of matter: the polluting gases come into contact with a plastic medium that maximises the interaction between the gas and liquid phases.
At Quimipol, we work with two main configurations:
- Countercurrent (vertical) flow: The gas rises as the liquid descends, optimizing the absorption of soluble contaminants.
- Cross Flow (Horizontal): Gas and liquid interact at right angles, ideal for industrial applications where vertical space is limited.
Industrial Washers: QH and QV Models
For industrial applications, we offer two specific ranges:
- QH (Horizontal): Designed for high flow rates and height-limited environments. They offer high efficiency in the capture of acids and suspended particles.
- QV (Vertical): Optimized for the absorption of soluble contaminants in upstreams, ideal for the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.
We manufacture both models entirely in Polypropylene Homopolymer (PPH), a material that guarantees corrosion resistance and durability. In addition, we incorporate recirculation systems, neutralization tanks, demisters (droplet trappers) and automated options, such as reagent dosing and conductivity emptying.

Laboratory Scrubbers: Q Series and LSV
In laboratory environments, where space is limited and accuracy is key, we have developed the Q and LSV series, designed to neutralize emissions effectively and without complicating daily operations.
Q Series (Vertical): Compact and efficient, they handle flow rates between 700 and 2750 m³/h. For example, the Q-1000 model operates between 750 and 1500 m³/h while the Q-2000 reaches 2750 m³/h. Its design allows for easy indoor installation. They are ideal for installation next to a laboratory fume cup.
- LSV Series (Over-display Case): Designed to be installed on gas cupboards, with tanks at the base. The LSV-800 handles between 800 and 1200 m³/h, and the LSV-1200 reaches up to 1500 m³/h. They are ideal for laboratories looking for efficiency without compromising space.
Both models include pH control and an automatic neutralization system for the washing liquid.
